Day 8 came and went and all remained as it should be. No cigarettes. I'm totally amazed that this product is allowing me to quit smoking with so little withdrawal. I'm not angry. I'm not constantly munching. It's like I'm still smoking, but not.

This is the beginning of the fourth day without the old tobacco cigarettes. I never thought it could possibly be this easy. But it has been so far. This is my third day without cigarettes. The first two days, Monday and Tuesday, I actually smoked about five cigarettes because my battery ran out on my Green Smoke cig. After speaking with a rep at Green Smoke, it's been determined that my battery is faulty. They're replacing it at no charge.

This is the third day of Green Smoking. Seriously, I'm loving it! What a great product they've put together. I had one small issue yesterday. About 4:00 in the afternoon, my battery died. What's going on at the Denver Airport? Have you ever visited it? The murals are quite disturbing. One depicts an Armageddon-like vision, including children in caskets. Another portrays an alien-looking character wearing a gas mask and impaling the white dove of peace on the tip of his sword. Other things seem amiss as well.

It's possible there is an extensive underground network of tunnels and living facilities for the "chosen ones" when the world ends in 2012, as predicted by the Mayan calendar. Jesse Ventura recently did an investigation of this area and discovered a lot of mysterious unanswered questions. Speculation abounds. Especially about the dirt. It's everywhere, heaped in piles and, according to estimates, more than the amount removed when the Panama Canal was built. Expert opinion says this dirt came from excavation for a below ground bunker. Others report a strange vibration in the ground of the surrounding areas. Strange?

Another anomaly involves how the project was managed. There was no general contractor, which is very unusual with a project of this scope. Each subcontractor was asked to leave the premises, immediately, when their portion of the project was completed. Bankers Bonuses. Nothing Ever Changes

Wall Street's most prominent firms admitted they helped cause the 2008 financial meltdown. Bad boys. That's okay. The government will bail you out. When that occurred, they were supposed to stop giving employees million dollar bonuses. But they're still doing it. And President Barack Obama called it obscene on Thursday.

Beginning today, JPMorgan Chase & Co. will release its 2009 financials. Other big banks will follow shortly after that. These are expected to show that compensation is near record levels.

The numbers are staggering. The six biggest U.S. banks are paying $150 billion for 2009 compensation. Why? Because the banks have had a remarkable financial turnaround - fueled by the bailout! Fueled by your money. And mine. And all of the little people out there who pay their taxes every year. Why are they allowed to do this? Power. The tremendous power of the financial lobbyists. The banks argue that if they don't compensate their performers according to their performance, they'll go elsewhere. Well, that makes no sense. If all the banks stop paying them such ridiculous bonuses, they've got to take it or leave it and get into another line of work.

Douglas Elliott, of the Brookings Institution and a former investment banker, says, referring to the government's bailout money: "The way the general public sees it is that we wrote a $700 billion check to the banks, and they got to burn through it as they pleased." In other words, they basically split up the windfall and everyone got a piece of the pie. A piece of our pie.

Of course, if the government hadn't stepped in it's possible these bonuses wouldn't be quite so over the top. When the financial meltdown began, banks got access to cheap government loans and other subsidies. And they weren't required to lend this money back out. Thus the tightening of the credit markets. Why should they lend it out when they could just divvie it up among themselves? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the answer to that one.

Some of them decided to invest it first, before taking it home. In some cases, the money was invested in risky securites. They were using the old "risk/reward theory. It worked. Some of these paid off big when the markets recovered. That resulted in huge profits resulting in even bigger bonuses. In the first three quarters of 2009, Goldman Sachs profits doubled to $8.4 billion. Estimates indicate the yearly profit to exceed $10 billion.

Now here's the part that will tick you off. Almost $17 billion of that was allocated for compensation from January through September. That equates to over $600,000 for each of its 31,700 employees. Naturally, it won't be divided equally. Is it ever?

When insurer American International Group Inc. paid $165 million in bonuses to hundreds of employees, employees of the financial unit that destroyed the company. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner referred to Wall Street pay as "out of whack." he promised to get the practice under control

But that may not happen. The lobbying group is powerful. In the past decade, they have spent more lobbying dollars than any other group. They're currently spending millions to fight financial reform measures currently being considered by congress.

Of course, one hand washes the other. Wall Street is especially generous to polical candidates. They contributed $476 million during the last election. The most generous donors included Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, and JPMorgan Chase.

Washington is working feverishly to sooth the public anger. But they have a tough road ahead of them before any changes are made. Their efforts could still be stopped by the huge and powerful financial lobby. One idea the Obama administration is considering is a 10-year tax on the largest banks to pay back a remaining balance of $117 billion. The Federal Reserve is also looking at a program to review pay practices and provide them more oversight on comensation paid by the largest banks.

The FDIC is also investigating fees banks pays and how a bank's compensation plan may encourage its employees to take excessive risks with the funs in order to receive higher returns.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., which regulates most of the nation's banks, is seeking public input on a plan that would tie the fees that banks pay for deposit insurance to how much a company's compensation plan encourages workers to take risks in order to achieve higher returns.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, said, "What you're seeing is a public-be-damned attitude from the banks. They're rolling in dough while the taxpayer has to sacrifice. That's an outrage."

It appears that the hard-working American people have, once again, been duped by the wise and greedy Wall Streeters. They even duped the people who have the power to prevent this type of outrage. But, perhaps there isn't really that much power in Washington after all. I don't look for anything to change. The bankers have all the money, and when you have the money you have the power. And if you run out of money, just ask for more. We're stupid. We'll give it to you. Again.

Stoned Wallabies Blamed for Crop Circles

SYDNEY, Australia - Wallabies snacking in Tasmania's legally grown opium poppy fields are getting "high as a kite" and hopping around in circles, trampling the crops, a state official said.

Tasmania Attorney-General Lara Giddings told a budget hearing Wednesday that she had recently read about the kangaroo-like marsupials' antics in a brief on the state's large poppy industry. Tasmania is the world's largest producer of legally grown opium for the pharmaceutical market.

"We have a problem with wallabies entering poppy fields, getting as high as a kite and going around in circles," The Mercury newspaper quoted Giddings as telling the hearing. "Then they crash. We see crop circles in the poppy industry from wallabies that are high."

Calls to Giddings' office were not immediately returned Thursday, and The Associated Press was unable to obtain a copy of the brief she cited.

A manager for one of two Tasmanian companies licensed to take medicinal products from poppy straw told the newspaper that wildlife and livestock — including deer and sheep — that eat the poppies are known to "act weird."

"There have been many stories about sheep that have eaten some of the poppies after harvesting and they all walk around in circles," Tasmanian Alkaloids field operations manager Rick Rockliff said. Others in the local poppy industry could not be reached for comment.

Tasmania supplies about 50 percent of the world's raw material for morphine and related opiates. About 500 farmers grow the crop on 49,420 acres of land.

(AP) A sleepwalking episode led to a stabbing. The Kansas City Star reported on its Web site Wednesday that the 24-year-old victim suffered a stab wound to his face and shoulder. Police said the victim's girlfriend awoke around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday to find her boyfriend urinating in the closet. He was intoxicated when he arrived at his apartment several hours earlier.

Police said the man had a history of sleepwalking and ignored his girlfriend's repeated efforts to wake him up. He pushed her out of the way as he walked toward the kitchen, and she reportedly became scared that he might hit her.

Police said she grabbed a knife and held it up as he approached. He sustained injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening.

Many congressmen are lawyers but Congressman Dana Rohrabacher was different. This California native was an aspiring screenwriter. Rohrabacher’s screenplay for a film called ‘Baja’ had drawn attention from a handful of Hollywood producers over the years but a deal never came through. That is, until 2003, when Rohrabacher became reacquainted with a man named Joseph Medawar, a Hollywood producer who had achieved some modest success over the years.

Medawar told Rohrabacher about his newly established production company, ‘Steeple Entertainment’, which would be producing a television show called ‘DHS’, a dramatic action-adventure series based on the Department of Homeland Security. Medawar showed Rohrabacher the DHS promotional trailer and offered to produce ‘Baja ‘under the Steeple name. Rohrabacher thought this was a great idea and accepted $23,000 for the screenplay.

Rohrabacher also expressed interest in Medawar’s DHS series and began introducing Medawar to many influential figures in Washington.What Rohrabacher and his associates did not realize was that Medawar would use these connections to present an air of legitimacy to dozens of investors for his DHS series. Over the next two years, Medawar would use the real DHS seal without permission and fraudulently claim that President George W Bush endorsed the series.

Medawar raked in more than $3 million from more than fifty investors to fund his lavish lifestyle. Behind the scenes, it was all a fraud and Medawar would not produce any DHS shows or sell the series to a television network. When the FBI and IRS caught on, Medawar’s con game ground to a screeching halt, leaving a trail of bankruptcy and distress in his wake.

Yummy, a toilet themed restaurant where you can eat a desert called “bloody poop” (strawberry sundae) and other disgustingly named foods.

I'm surprised they don't have little rolls of toilet paper by each seat instead of napkins. Now, that's the kind of restuarant you want to visit. Maybe once. And maybe not.

In a follow up interview with the owner, Sum Yung Guy, he said that if the restaurent wasn't successful he was seriously considering suing Al Gore for inventing the toilet.

"They were professionally dressed with suits and ties. They wanted cigarettes and liquor," Glebe told police. "There were about six of them, and they had guns. I gave them what they asked for, and before they left the smallest one grabbed some Ben & Jerry's ice cream, a bunch of bananas, and several magazines. Chunky Monkey was the flavor he selected. Then he opened a bottle of STP and poured it on the floor, laughed and ran out the door. I don't know why he did that."

This isn't the first incident involving this troups. Last week a convenience store was hit. Fortunately, no shots were fired in either incident. It is believed the monkeys work for a major drug cartel in the Tijuana area. Police are having a handwriting expert do an analysis on the note. Investigator, Don Pardo advised this reporter that the monkeys should be considered armed and dangerous.

Meteorite strikes boy...

Since we've been talking about outer space and Krypton, which is in outer space, or was until it exploded, a 14-year old German boy was hit in the hand by a pea-sized meteorite that scared the crap out of him and left a scar.

"When it hit me it knocked me flying and then was still going fast enough to bury itself into the road," Gerrit Blank said in a newspaper account. Astronomers have analyzed the object and conclude it was indeed a natural object from space, The Telegraph reports.

Most meteors vaporize in the atmosphere, creating "shooting stars," and never reach the ground. The few that do are typically made mostly of metals. Stony space rocks, even if they are big as a car, will usually break apart or explode as they crash through the atmosphere.

There are a handful of reports of homes and cars being struck by meteorites, and many cases of space rocks streaking to the surface and being found later. But human strikes are rare. There are no known instances of humans being killed by space rocks.

Blank's attorney indicated that Gerrit was seriously considering suing Al Gore for inventing outer space.

Kryptonite discovered...

Metropolis — The downtown apartment of Jimmy Olson, cub reporter for the Daily Planet, was searched before dawn this morning by a S.W.A.T. team trying to find evidence tying Olson to the recent discovery of Kryptonite in his desk at work.

The whole thing started with a phone call to the Metropolis Police Department a few days earlier with an anonymous tip linking Olson to the mineral. The detective assigned to the case said the call was traced and was found to have come from a phone booth outside the Daily Planet offices.

"I don't know much about Kryptonite," said Clark Kent, another reporter for the great metropolitan newspaper, "but I don't think Jimmy has anything to do with it. The Kryptonite found in his desk may have been planted."

Indeed, no evidence linking Olson to the Kryptonite was found at his apartment. Publisher, Perry White, could not be reached for comment. The case is still under investigation. In an interview with police, Olson indicated that he was seriously considering suing Al Gore for inventing the planet Krypton.

Money DOES buy happiness.

The next time that someone tells you that money can't buy happiness, tell them that they are wrong.

New research published in Britain has shown that even winning a small lottery or receiving an inheritance can produce contentment in average people. Professors Andrew Oswald and Jonathan Gardner of Warwick University in central England tracked 9,000 families over the past decade to study whether there was a link between cash windfalls and contentment.

"We find a very strong link between cash falling on you and higher contentment and better mental health in the following year," said Oswald.

None of the 9,000 families indicated they were considering suing Al Gore for anything related to the lottery or inheritance laws.

Man in bra rummages through woman's car...

SPARTA, Mich. – Well, it just keeps getting curiouser and curiouser. A man has been charged after a neighbor said she saw him wearing a purple bra and boxer shorts while rummaging through her car.

Jacob Andrew Fast, 20, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of first-degree home invasion and resisting and obstructing a police officer. Lisa Collins told WZZM-TV she found Fast rifling through her car on Tuesday afternoon and called the police. The car keys were missing from her house.

Collins said the bra he was wearing wasn't hers.

Fast will be back in district court in Rockford on June 19 for a preliminary exam. He was ordered held on $20,000 bond and has requested a court-appointed attorney. Fast said he was seriously considering suing Al Gore for inventing the bra.

UFO Sighting in Oregon...

It was reported last night by several residents in the Fauxhat, Oregon, suburbs that a strange craft was spotted around midnight, hovering above the houses in a secluded subdivision. Interviews with residents indicated that this is not the first incident of its type to occur in this area.

"It looked like a boomerang," stated Les Holcomb, an apple grower in the valley. "I went outside on the patio about midnight to have a glass of my apple juice, and there it was. If I hadn't looked up, I never would have spotted it. It wasn't making any sound at all, although I seemed to detect a very low humming, like a generator, but it sounded like it was playing the beginning of Stand By Me by Ben E. King."

Barb Vulcanowski, a local elementary school teacher and another resident in the area, told reporters that a similar craft was hovering over her back yard at about the same time. "I went outside to smoke and this bright beam of light came down from above and surrounded me. The next thing I knew, I was inside a strange metallic-walled room with things that looked like big screen televisions all around. The room was circular, and it was dark inside. There was a metal table in the center of the room, round, and a platter with watermelon chunks on it and a little bowl of metal toothpicks. I ate some of the watermelon while waiting. It was very good but it didn't really taste like watermelon. More of a plastic taste."

Vulcanowski went on to relate a bizarre tale about three strange creatures who entered the room a few minutes later and began speaking to her in a high-pitched, beeping sound. "I had no idea what they were saying, but there was one word I did recognize. WalMart. They said that a lot. They also mentioned Michelle Obama, and they would always smile at each other and roll their eyes and make a giggling sound when they mentioned her."

After an hour or so, Vulcanowski states, she was taken to a big, cylindrical, metal chute and told to lie down and slide into it. When she did, a needle was plunged into her forehead. The next thing she recalls is finding herself lying on her patio, with her shoes on the wrong feet. "It's all very strange, but it wasn't bad, from what I can remember. They seemed pretty nice."

Vulcanowski added that the alien creatures had mentioned something about suing Al Gore for inventing the telescope.

Gobbler sued for Sex Discrimination

In its heyday, The Gobbler was a unique motel, supper club, and roadside attraction at the intersection of Wisconsin Highway 26 and I-94 (Exit 267) in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin, United States. It was situated halfway between Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Madison, Wisconsin. The Gobbler was a popular roadside attraction. Dozens of websites have been erected as a memorial to The Gobbler, and to tell the tales of visits to the site.

Designed in the late 1960s by Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin architect Helmut Ajango for local turkey farmer Clarence Hartwig and opened in 1967, The Gobbler Supper Club (later renamed the Round Stone Restaurant) was styled to resemble a turkey's head when viewed from overhead.

The menu featured turkey, as well as prime rib and steak. A rotating circular bar that completed one revolution every eighty minutes was a signature centerpiece of the building. After the original owner died in 1979, the building passed through several incarnations, including a roadside diner; the last tenant went out of business in mid-2002.

Hartwig's poultry plant was located just south of the supper club and closed in 1971 after Hartwig announced that it was too costly to upgrade the plant to meet new USDA standards. At the time the plant was the largest employer in Johnson Creek, employing up to 300 workers and processing 30 million pounds of poultry a year. Hartwig's other ventures, the Gobbler supper club, the Cackle Shack restaurant and Gobbler motel remained open.

In 1974, a Hearing Examiner of the State Equal Rights Division ruled that the restaurant violated the rights of two women by firing them for refusing to wear uniforms that were different from the uniform of male employees. Male waiter and bartenders wore tuxedos while female waitresses were required to wear "black briefs, fishnet stockings and V-necked hunting jackets." At the time, The Capital Times believed it to be the first ruling to find "sex discrimination on the basis of uniforms."

In June 2008, the Frank Lloyd Wright Wisconsin Tourism Program hosted "The Gobbler Gala" at the restaurant. The dinner featured talks by Gobbler architect Ajango and Wright historian Sidney Robinson. Our research indicates that Al Gore did not attend the event.

Family Photo in Czech Billboard Ad

You've all read about the Missouri family that was stunned to find out its Christmas photo appeared in a giant storefront ad overseas. A traveling friend noticed the photo, which the family had posted on a blog. But there's more.

After some investigation it appears that it's not a photo of the Missouri family after all. As unlikely as it may seem, it turns out that the photo in the Czech billboard is actually a Czechoslovakian family. "It's the Doppleganger effect," stated Boston geneticist Harvey Bakelowski. "We see this quite often, actually. There are only so many DNA combinations possible. It's a large sampling, but it's destined that two will come up identical occasionally. The same thing happened with Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montana recently. They look identical."

Love is in the air... or was.

It all began with a harmless night out with the boys. But, as boys will be boys, there was a bit too much fun, too many short women, and a too much alcohol involved. It was a train wreck waiting to happen.

On his way home, Cupid got off his flight path and ended up trying to violate one of Newton's Laws — the one that states two objects can't occupy the same space at the same time.

"I don't know what happened," Cupid told the officer as the EMT crew administered first aid after he crashed into the Board of Trade Building in downtown Kansas City. "I was heading for Russell Stover headquarters to pick up a few boxes of dark chocolates, when the building just seemed to come out of nowhere. The next thing I knew, I had crashed."

After the EMT's got him stabilized, he was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital and put in ICU for a short duration. Two cracked ribs and a few facial lacerations was the extent of the damage. However, he was charged with FUI (flying under the influence) and released on probation to remain in the hospital until the damage repairs itself.

Cupid is expected to be released from the hospital this weekend and will return to his home in Nirvana to get ready for the Valentine's Day holiday in a few months. In a follow up interview, Cupid said he was seriously considering suing Al Gore for inventing skyscrapers.

Colonel Sherman Potter Opts for Sex Change

You remember him, don't you? Sherman Potter was the commanding officer of the 4077th from the television series M.A.S.H.. You may not recognize him today with his new appearance, but his confident attitude is still a dead giveaway if you happen to run into him (her?)

In a recent interview shortly after his sex reassignment, Potter admitted, "I was always jealous of Margaret Houlihan. She was beautiful and sexy, and that's what I wanted to be. But the decision wasn't an easy one. When you consider having parts of your body removed, especially parts that you've become quite fond of and familiar with over a lifetime, it's a bit sobering. But I weighed the advantages, and I opted for the change. I haven't regretted it one iota."

But it's a long process, and Potter says he still has a lot of electrolysis session scheduled to take care of the facial and body hair that just "isn't feminine" in his opinion.

In addition to the gender reassignment, Potter has given up acting and gone through nurse's training in order to do the work he has always longed to perform. "The only downside, so far," Potter concluded, "is that my horses don't recognize me. It's going to require a little patience as we all get to know each other again, but they're starting to come around and accept the new me."

Paris Hilton Found Naked Backstage

With a reputation for trying new things, Paris Hilton is at it again. She was scheduled to appear at the Hollywood Bowl last night and perform with Black Sabbath in her debut singing appearance. Apparently, something went terribly wrong in a Paris Hilton kind of way.

After the introduction by the emcee, and the "entrance music," at which time Paris was supposed to walk on stage, she failed to appear. After an awkward pause and a second try, the result was the same. No Paris. A stagehand was sent backstage to determine the cause for her absence and rush her to the stage. After what seemed an interminable amount of time the stagehand sheepishly appeared on stage and motioned to the emcee, who was attempting to entertain the crowd by making balloon animals. The stagehand explained to the emcee that he had found Paris backstage, terribly entangled in the mic cord.

"I had been practicing my turns and spins, like I was supposed to," Paris said as the stagehands worked feverishly to free her from her bonds. "Ozzie told me to keep practicing until I heard the music, and then I was supposed to come out. But when I heard the music and tried walking toward the stage, my feet weren't able to walk because they were all tangled up. And I couldn't get dressed like that. And I couldn't walk out naked. Well, I could, I guess, but I couldn't get untangled. Plus, I was chewing gum at the time so I probably couldn't have walked out there anyway. Show business is so hard."

There was no shortage of help. When the stagehands rushed to her rescue, they spent considerable time — much more than required actually — to free her from the mic cord. "It took about ten of us to finally get her loosened up," said Juan Valdez, previously employed by a Columbian coffee manufacturer but recently laid off due to an issue involving his burro and a young lady in Tijuana. "Paco was in the parking lot. If he had been with me he could have chewed through the cord in no time. He has very good teeth. It would have been much quicker." Paco is Juan's burrow.

After the stagehands finally managed to get her untangled Paris arrived on stage to a standing ovation. But the enthusiasm of the crowd waned as she gave a pitiful, pitchy rendition of the forties blues song, "Wang Dang Doodle." Afterwards, she apologized. Not for the singing, but for her late entrance, and she promised to give each member of the audience $725 to make up for their wait. Promoters indicated to this reporter that future shows with Paris would require a cordless mic.

In an "off-the-record" interview, Paris stated that she is seriously considering suing Al Gore for inventing the microphone and not including instructions.

Lethal Injections...

Now there's a subject of some interest. And I have some questions about it. Maybe you do, too. First of all, have you ever wondered why they spend the money on the cotton ball and the alcohol to sterilize the needle? And why bother to use a new needle every time? That's an added expense. This whole thing doesn't make any sense to me. Why can't they just keep using the same old dirty needle, time after time. It's not like infection is going to be an issue after five minutes or so.

And secondly, what about the person who has that job? I'm talking about the needle pusher. Are they a regular employee with a cubicle and a computer and a desk and a stapler and paper clips? Or are they on call as needed? If they're a regular salaried employee, we're certainly wasting a lot of taxpayer dollars funding that position. And if that's the case, what the heck do they do the rest of the time when they're not giving lethal injections. That can't take up their whole day. Can it? Certainly not. In fact, between 1977 and 1982 there were a total of 59 death sentences carried out by lethal injection in the United States. That's an average of one per month. And that wouldn't really qualify as a full-time job requiring a lot of multi-tasking.

In fact, we could save a lot of money if we just had the person do the injection themselves. But maybe that would cause some issues with their insurance company if they didn't cover suicide. And speaking of insurance, do the insurance companies have a clause in there policies for that situation? What if you have a really large insurance policy and then you get convicted and sentenced to death? Does the carrier still pay the beneficiary? Hmm. I wonder these things. What do you think?

Nothing is off limits. It's literary license and the old freedom of speech thing. Some it may shock you. Actually, I'm pretty sure a lot of is going to shock you. Some may surprise you. You may find yourself saying things like, "Wow. I didn't know that." And you wouldn't be alone, because other readers may be saying the same thing.
